Youth Courses

Text Box: The Red Cross offers a variety of educational programs designed to meet the needs of teachers, daycare providers and youth leaders. 

Staying safe is what it is all about. Youth can gain the skills and confidence they need to act in an emergency by taking a course designed for youth. 

Basic Aid Training (B.A.T.) 
Children ages 7-12 years old can learn emergency response skills, rescue breathing and ways to prevent and care for choking, wounds, nosebleeds, falls and animal bites. The course includes responses for safety, poisoning, water accidents, substance abuse and more; includes participant’s book. Basic Aid Training meets Merit Badge Requirements: 
Cub Scouts –Readyman Badge and Browning Scouts –First Aid Badge
Length: 5 hours Course Fee: $15.00  Materials Included

Babysitter’s Training 
If you’re 11 to 15 years old, you can gain the knowledge, skills and confidence to care for infants and school-age children. Combining video, participant’s handbook, activities, hands-on skills training and discussion for a complete learning experience, this course shows you how to—Respond to emergencies and illnesses with first aid, rescue breathing and other        appropriate care • Make decisions under pressure • Communicate with   parents to learn household rules • Recognize safety and hygiene issues • Manage young children • Feed, diaper and care for infants
Length: 8 hours Course Fee: $40.00  Materials Included

First Aid for Children Today (F.A.C.T)
The FACT Critter Clan leads kids through health promotions and injury prevention activities.  A fun environmental theme teaches safety in a non-threatening way.  Topics include hygiene and health habits, first aid, personal safety and injury prevention; includes participant’s booklet. This is a great program for the classroom!  
Grades K-3; Instructor training is not required to teach this course.

Text Box: For groups of six or more, private courses can be scheduled at your convenience in your facility, home, agency, or at the chapter office.
